Entered Alpha Delta Writing Contest - Sunday, March 24, 1963

This afternoon after we forfeited our basketball game to the PCCs (after I had a team rounded up) I went with Angela Lee to the Cosmopolitan Club exhibit in the Meetin' House and then studied history. This evening I typed up one of my Stylus articles, the one on the English Language Institute, just for the fun of it, for the Alpha Delta writing contest. Linda and Carolyn were over here about WRA offices. I guess I'll be running for chairman, and Carolyn, too. I have to finish up my poli sci paper and maybe not have to get up early for once.

Saw "Judgement at Nuremberg" - Saturday, March 23, 1963

Well, I've done it again. Another beautiful Saturday and I didn't get anything done. Now that I'm over another (the last long) crush, I think I have a crush on myself or something. I really must begin to open up more around people of the opposite sex. Like praying, it's something I "put off" far too often. I shouldn't analogize the two. Barb Page and I watched the tennis match with KCU for an hour this afternoon and I went with her and Margaret to "Judgement at Nuremberg" tonight. It was different and good. Margie is on the OAC hayride tonight.

An 89 on the Religion Test - Friday, March 22, 1963

Well, another one down and four to go. But really they're going too fast. In all my life I never saw weeks go so fast. I had the last part of our French test at 2:00 and an ed psych test from 5:00 to 6:00, so I'm about tested out. I got an 89 on the religion test! It's about time - I always seem to get lower than what I think I should on Dr. Johnson's tests. I had Flo cut my hair tonight and then I swept her floor for her. Something squeaking sounds like a windmill. It must be Jo's typewriter ribbon case.

A Roommate For Stephens - Thursday, March 21, 1963

Ed psych got out at 9:00 tonight since we didn't have time out for a break. The pool was too hot for swimming and elementary phys ed had been called off so I didn't have any classes today. But for all my efforts trying to read psychology, I didn't get very far. And we have a test tomorrow. Guess I'm still too excited about making Stephens to concentrate on studying! Evelyn, the off-campus girl, is in my swimming class, and I think we'll try to room together. We seem to have quite a bit in common. She's lived on a farm, parents teach, and is majoring in elementary education. She's Margaret Brisch's sister.

Am Voted into Stephens Honor Dorm - Wednesday, March 20, 1963

This morning I found out that I am among nine of 29 eligible girls voted into Stephens [honor dorm] for my junior and senior years. They voted last night on the ones they wanted in: Sylvia DeFriend, Evelyn Gatton, Barbara Page, Margaret McElwain, Nancy Ayres, Kathy Gillespie, Liz Ralston, Karen Bentson and myself. The number was rather limited so it seems like even more of an honor. They're leaving several openings in case some of their previously accepted members like Merry Lee Dean and Lou Rogers come back. We had an LLC party in the Brig tonight. We had a lot of fun bowling and playing pool.

In Awe About Van Gogh Exhibit - Tuesday, March 19, 1963

Gee, if this were a school for nothing but activities, it would be fine, but since there seems to be homework, too, it makes it kind of bad. I have just finished my Stylus news. Mr. Sherwood will kill me (George said he's in a bad mood). I wanted to get it done this morning but news gathering took longer than I expected - Dr. Hauptmann loaned me a copy of the book he and Tuesday's German speaker both have articles in. The Van Gogh exhibition was fabulous. After being shown in Philadelphia, Detroit and Kansas City, it's going back to Holland. We had a WRA meeting tonight to elect all-stars.

Will Try Again to Solicit for WUS - Monday, March 18, 1963

I believe I will try once more at 10:00 tonight to see if we have any better luck with Hawley's WUS solicitation than we did last night. It was supposed to be turned in today, but I didn't have a chance till 4:00 and then when I called Rev. Seamans I couldn't get him. The LLCs beat the OACs 13-11 in volleyball, but they said it wouldn't count since neither of us had our full team there by the official forfeit time. I hope I did alright on the religion test. Really, there's no excuse that one could offer since we had a list of questions ahead of time. I typed what news I had tonight.
